Created by an unknown Indigenous artist, the map depicts Teguantepec and its surrounding communities and geographical features. Teguantepec, with its church and houses, is seen in the lower middle of the map on the banks of a prominent river. The Mar del Sur or Pacific Ocean is seen on the entire right side of the map. Prominent geographical features include multiple rivers, lakes, salt flats, and multiple mountain ranges. The map depicts many neighboring towns that fall within the jurisdiction including Xalapa, Tepeguazontlan, Suchitlan San Vicente, Camotlan, Amatitlan, and about two dozen others. Other items of note include "Las salinas de don Felipe Cortés," which are shown along the coast, the roads connecting the various communities including the principal roads of Camino real de Chiapa and Camino real de Socunusco y Guatemala. Some of the mountains and ranges are labeled including Cerro del Tigre which is right next to Teguantepec and features a glyph of a tiger.
