Description of the administrative capital of Justlahuaca and several other towns found in this part of the Diocese of Oaxaca within the province of Mixteca Baja. Census was signed by Andrés Aznar de Cózar. Document includes complete descriptions of the towns of Mixtepeque, Ayusuchiquilazala, Xicayan, Puctla, and Zacatepeque. Descriptions place these communities in a historical, geographical, and cultural context within the larger province of Mixteca Baja. Details include Amuzgo, Mixteca, and Mexicana as the spoken languages, etymology of place names, building construction, natural resources, flora and fauna of the surrounding area, and the local systems of governance. This is one of a series of responses to a political and cultural survey circulated by King Philip II of Spain titled relaciones geográficas, which were gathered between the years 1579-1585.
