Photograph of Mexican Ward School addition in Mathis, Texas. Photograph labeled S-3. Several people standing outside school building shown on the left side of the image. Annotation reads "Newest addition to the ward school consists of this old war surplus building, which is a virtual fire trap, and in which the children will probably scorch in the summer and freeze in the winter. Ventilation is poor, and a claim can hardly be made that it can be reconverted or improved since purchased. No inside sanitation facilities whatsoever are available inside."
