American backed newspaper published weekly in Granada, Nicaragua during a period of increased American interests in Nicaragua and the beginnings of the Filibuster War of 1855-1860. It is published in both English and Spanish. This particular issue contains updates on American efforts of colonization in Nicaragua, daily log from the American clipper ship Northern Light, maritime happenings from the Port of Granada, and a market report listing prices of goods. The Spanish language portion of the issue contains copies of official government articles from the República de Nicaragua Ministerio de Hacienda and Ministerio de Relaciones y Gobernación as well as a report on political happenings in Mexico, article noting the importance of the Bible, advice on treatment against cholera, and maritime happenings at the Port of Granada. | Vol. 1, No. 12
