American backed newspaper published weekly in Granada, Nicaragua during a period of increased American interests in Nicaragua and the beginnings of the Filibuster War of 1855-1860. It is published in both English and Spanish. This particular issue contains updates on the Accessory Transit Company, filibustering multinational troop movements including the moving of the headquarters of their army from Granada to Rivas, and actions of General William Walker. Also covered is the the Battle of Rivas which was between the filibustering troops and Costa Rican and Chamorista troops and a different battle at Santa Rosa. The Spanish language portion of the issue includes empowering articles and a call to arms written by Patricio Rivas and Francisco Agüero Estrada, reprintings of various decrees and articles by the Ministerio de Gobernación, and an editorial hailing William Walker as the martyr of liberty and independence for Nicaragua. | Vol. 1, No. 23
