Part of Series V. Photographs, 1930s-1966 of the George I. Sánchez Papers. Photographs documenting conditions in schools for Mexican American children as part of "A Study of the Educational Opportunities Provided Spanish-Name Children in Ten Texas School Systems" by Virgil E. Strickland and George I. Sánchez (1948). This study preceded a successful District Court decision, Delgado v. Bastrop ISD, which led to desegregation of Texas schools for Mexican American children. and Dr. George I. Sánchez a 1941-1942 former national president of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) often collaborated with LULAC members to document and denounce inferior conditions of schools designated for minority students.
