General Note:
The authoritative name of this site, Capilla de San Juan Bautista ("Chapel of San Juan Bautista"), is sourced from the Mexican National Institute of Anthropology and History: https://mediateca.inah.gob.mx/repositorio/islandora/object/fotografia:496962. This collection of 1959 drawings refer to the site as "San Juan Church" or "Mission Church San Juan". While the building shares architectural similarities to Spanish Colonial Missions, calling the Capilla de San Juan Bautista a mission church is a misnomer. The chapel was built as a stand alone building in 1835 or 1836, after Mexican independence from Spain, and was not part of a mission complex or colonial mission efforts. [A. Anderson, 2020-12-16]
