Two two-story houses with porches and a cistern behind four-rail wood fence
Title:
Two two-story houses with porches and a cistern behind four-rail wood fence
Description:
Unknown house, Central Texas, exterior | Two closely-built, plaster- or concrete-coated two-story houses, each with attached porches. One house has paneled roof and rain gutters with downspouts that extend diagonally against the gable-end wall to empty into what appears to be a rainwater cistern, though one of the gutters has broken off part way down. The side of the visible porch roof is wood with decorative sawtooth edge. Houses are at a distance, behind a four-rail wood fence. A third house on the left is obscured by trees. | From a series of unique photographic images, which Williams took on his travels through central Texas in the 1920s, showing examples of vernacular architecture. Williams donated the negatives to the UT's School of Architecture in 1961 and they were subsequently transferred to the Alexander Architectural Archives. | Location possibly Fredericksburg, Boerne or Kerrville
